From 16 – 22 September 2009, cities and towns across Europe have the opportunity to participate in one of the biggest and brightest events on sustainable mobility, European Mobility Week.
The theme this year is ‘Improving City Climates’ and cities are encouraged to get on board and take part.
Car free day
A busy week, packed with activities dedicated towards sustainable mobility, will be organised in more than 2000 urban areas, culminating in Car Free Day, highlight of the week, on 22 September.
Among the cities participating is Freiburg, Germany, one of the eight finalist for the European Green Capital Award 2010 and 2011. European Mobility Week is an opportunity for cities to initiate a range of activities which provide a platform for local authorities, as well as organisations and associations, to promote their current policies, initiatives and best practices.
