A recent survey released by the Guardian newspaper in the UK and the Cleantech Forum chose five Israeli-based and two Israeli-developed companies among a global listing of 100. That’s a significant number, considering the size of Israel, which make it compare to small European country.
Because of its political and geographical situation, Israel has relied on technology since its very birth. Today, this small country is the home of a number of organizations active in pushing technological developments behind their limits.
This is true as far as alternative energy is concerned. And being Israel such a sun-rich country, and one that misses oil and gas resources, solar energy technologies couldn’t but be highly developed.
Thanks to Israel 21c, a non-profit educational foundation with a mission to focus public and media attention on the country’s capabilities in this new century, here is a shortlist of solar technologies currently under development or implementation in Israel.
